Introduction
There are times when you may not have the table already created before you want to start working with an entity in Xelence. This is a way to start the work and then link the entity to a table at a later date.
Prerequisites
- An entity with the same name must not already exist.
- Make sure the module name/folder in which you want to save your entity, already exists else create one.

Detailed Steps
Step 1. Click the Create New Item icon.
The Create New Item icon is in the top left corner of Xelence's landing page.
Step 2. Select the Object Type, then select the Entity Type.
You are creating an entity with the type of Entity First.
Step 3. Enter the entity details, then click Next.
Enter the entity details. The important properties are:
- Entity Name (ID): It names the entity, which will be referenced in all future steps.
- Select Folder: Specifies the location for the entity. You can either choose an existing folder or create a new one.
- Description: You can also add a description if your entity requires any explanation.
- Create with System Columns: Determines if you want to create the System Columns in the Columns section.
Step 4. Optionally, enter the Design Specification information, then click Finish.
In the Extra Fields section, enter the Design Specification value if you want to link your entity to a documentation record.
You can always link a blank entity to a table later.
Step 5. Review the summary report, then click OK.
This creates the entity, then displays a summary report of the successfully created entity.
When you have completed the wizard and created the entity, it should look something like this:
